I read on forums that some people replace their electric blankets every 5 years, works well with them. As for me I made it a point to replace my full size electric blanket on a yearly basis. I find them to be a good investment and certain brands like Sunbeam are reliable. However, replacing them every year is much safer as to my own perspective. Last winter, I even got a good deal and had more money to buy a King Size Electric Blanket and gave it as a Christmas present to my dad. He loved how he could share his King Electric Blanket with my mom having those dual controls for her side of the electric blanket.

    I bought a queen dual control but it only gets warm on one side. Obviously it was never tested. I didn’t return it because getting it here was such a hassle I didn’t want to go through all that again. They don’t ship to Hawaii so I had it sent to my brother in CA and he sent it to me. A big problem with Amazon is many of the items don’t ship to HI.

    As for this blanket, buyer beware!

    We love it. It’s lightweight. I turn in on when I go upstairs to brush my teeth and by the time we’re ready for bed, the bed’s toasty warm and that’s a plus with the cold temperatures we’d endured so far this winter. We haven’t had it long enough to speak to it’s reliability though.

    I carefully read all the complaints about this blanket before buying it, and I am please to say that we love the blanket. AMPLE heat, quick enough for us. We simply turn them as we get ready for bed, then jump in. Some people claimed that these did not get very warm… I am not sure what they are talking about. SURE this is NOT a heating pad so it does not get as hot as THAT… but it works GREAT for us. My setting is a “one (1)” each night, the wife prefers a “six (6)”. Leaving it on HIGH all night will drive you to rip off all your clothes and run around with the windows open… perhaps not a bad setting for Valentines day. We sleep bette knowing the voltage is very low and little to no electro-magnetic radiation. The blanket is indeed very soft to the touch and comfortable. To sum it all up. We simply LOVE this blanket.

    Although this is a very nice electric blanket, I wish now I had simply purchased an ordinary Sunbeam blanket at 1/4 the price! Yes, this blanket is softer and the wires aren’t obvious as they are on a standard blanket. But the blanket warms slowly, and the inability to feel the wires doesn’t seem worth 4 times the price to me.

    I am writing this review ~ one year after purchasing to give this blanket a chance to pass or fail, with that said this has been a great purchase. We have never had an issue with it, the heating is very evenly distributed (no hot spots), the blanket by itself is very comfortable.
